AFM Executive Director to Speak at QS Reimagine Education Awards and Conference

Nadia El-Gowely, executive director of Al-Fanar Media, will join the 2023 QS Reimagine Education Awards and Conference as a speaker and one of the grand jury members.

Marking the conference’s 10th anniversary, QS Quacquarelli Symonds, a popular source of data on university performers, will hold the QS Reimagine Education Awards & Conference, often hailed as the “Oscars of education”, from December 11 to 13 at Khalifa University of Science and Technology, in Abu Dhabi.

QS Quacquarelli Symonds, in collaboration with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, has dedicated ten years to honouring pioneering educational strategies that boost learning outcomes and employability for a billion future learners.

This year’s awards attracted a record 1,200 entries, with 800 exceptional proposals making the longlist. These submissions have been meticulously evaluated by an international jury of 800 eminent academics and professionals, culminating in the selection of the finalists across 17 categories.

As part of Al-Fanar Media’s media partnership with QS World University Rankings, signed in 2022, Nadia El-Gowely, executive director of Al-Fanar Media, will join the QS Reimagine Education conference as a speaker and one of the grand jury members.

“In Al-Fanar Media, we highly value our collaboration with QS and consider our participation in the QS Reimagine Education Awards and Conference a commitment to championing educational excellence and innovation,” said El-Gowely. “As we join this milestone 10th-anniversary celebration, we recognise the transformative power of pioneering educational strategies highlighted by QS.”

She added: “The event symbolises a global movement towards advancing learning outcomes, employability, and sustainability. Al-Fanar Media is proud to contribute to this vibrant forum, capturing the essence of groundbreaking projects, engaging in peer learning sessions, and fostering insightful dialogues. We are delighted to stand alongside as media partners, supporting the dissemination of knowledge and the celebration of educational excellence worldwide.”

The Awards Gala Dinner will announce the two overall winners. A jury of 50 top experts will confer the Global Education Award, which carries a $25,000 prize offered by the American University of the Middle East, in Kuwait, and the Global EdTech Award, worth $25,000 in Google Cloud credits.

The conference will feature distinguished speakers, including university chancellors, business school deans, chief learning officers, instructional designers, employers, policymakers, edtech innovators, investors, and sustainability champions.

This is Al-Fanar Media’s second participation in the QS Reimagine Education Conference. In 2022, Mohammad El-Hawary, AFM editor-in-chief, spoke in a panel titled “The Impact of Education on Implementing Sustainable Development”, at the Knowledge Hub in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital.
