The Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships are offered by the New Zealand government to international students who wish to undertake postgraduate studies at one of eleven approved education institutions in New Zealand. Candidates must be from designated countries, which include six Arab countries: Algeria, Djibouti, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and Tunisia.

The scholarships support study at four levels: postgraduate certificates (6 months), postgraduate diplomas (1 year), master’s degrees (1 to 2 years), and Ph.D. programmes (3.5 years). Scholars selected in 2024 will commence their studies in Semester 1 of 2025.

The scholarship covers recipients’ full study and living costs during their study of an academic subject recommended for their country. Scholars are expected to contribute to their country’s social or economic development for at least two years after completing their scholarship study.

  • Assistance with research and thesis costs for many postgraduate students.

Eligibility

Candidates must:

  • Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries.
  • Have resided in their home country for two years prior to commencing their study.
  • Be 18 years old or older when they start the scholarship.
  • Hold proof of English language proficiency.
  • Have one year of full-time work experience or two years of part-time work experience.
  • Be committed to contributing to their country’s development.
  • Meet visa requirements.

How to Apply

Complete the online eligibility test to determine eligibility. If you are eligible for the scholarship a “register” button will be activated.

After registering, you may complete and submit your application. You may access the online application system anytime between the opening and closing dates.
