As the novel coronavirus sweeps through the Arab region, Al-Fanar Media is monitoring how it is affecting those facets of the Arab world that we focus on: higher education, research, and arts and culture. The Covid-19 pandemic has blocked students’ education, shuttered the art world, and revealed how badly the Arab region needs its own public health and research infrastructure.
With the lockdowns being enforced around the region and many individuals in quarantine, the public face-to-face gatherings that once fueled education and the arts have gone dark.
