The Yousef Jameel GAPP Public Leadership Program offers fellowships to Egyptian graduate students at the American University in Cairo who are interested in completing one of the following master’s degree courses:

The program covers tuition, a stipend, student services medical services fees, remedial English courses, a book allowance, an accommodation allowance, bus transportation, and one semester abroad opportunity under AUC student exchange policies.

Candidates must first apply for graduate admission to the university before applying for the fellowship. The graduate admissions application deadline is 1 April.

Yousef Jameel launched the Yousef Jameel Public Leadership Program in May 2011, in collaboration with the university’s School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP), with the overarching goal of developing the capacity of young, competent Egyptian nationals in public policy and public administration, as well as preparing them for leadership roles in Egypt following the January 25 revolution.

2.5 years, optional study abroad semester (subject to regular semester reviews).

Eligibility

Candidates must:

  • Hold Egyptian nationality.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, engineering, or science.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.2 or a “very good” rating. Holders of a Bachelor in Law degree with a “good” grade may be considered.
  • Satisfy AUC’s graduate admissions requirements, including international TOEFL IBT or IELTS exam score.
  • Have a minimum of two and a maximum of 12 years of relevant professional work experience after finishing their bachelor’s degree.
  • Have graduated between the years of 2012 and 2022.
  • Continuing students will be considered only if they have finished a maximum of 6 credit hours (two courses) by September 2024.
