Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a Ph.D. position with a background in sociology or related fields. The Ph.D. program will be for three years, and the student will work with the NetCareers team on modeling complex life course trajectory networks of complete population cohorts in high income countries. The team is conducting research to develop new techniques for studying complex network trajectories and their outcomes.


For the accepted applicant, the scholarship will cover:

– Travel expenses.

– A monthly salary ranging from 27,363 to 33,045 Danish kroner (approximately $4,350 to $5,250), depending on seniority.

– All tuition fees.

– All the expenses of renting office space.

Deadline: September 15, 2020


Applicants must:  

– Be fluent in English with an IELTS academic test result of at least 7.0 or a TOEFL iBT test result of at least 94.

– Have completed a master’s degree in sociology or a related social science field. 

– Have received the equivalent of a grade 10 or higher (very good) on their master’s thesis, as measured by the Danish seven-point grading scale (see info on equivalents here).

– Have one year of relevant work experience in business, educational or dissemination activities.

Required Documents:

– Research proposal: A project description (max. 5 pages): This research proposal should contain a presentation of an original research question, a description of the initial theoretical framework and research design, a presentation of the suggested empirical material as well as a work-plan in the form of a Gantt Chart, and finally a brief outline of how the project would fit within the framework of the collaborative research project.

– Master’s Degree Certificate: Copies of a Master’s degree certificate or other certificates of a corresponding level.

– A brief curriculum vitae (CV).

– One copy of a selected written work (e.g., master’s thesis).
