Description
Founded in 1988, the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) is a registered nonprofit organization working for the rights and the well-being of children in the Middle East.
MECA provides financial assistance to young Palestinian university students in the West Bank and Gaza. The scholarships enable talented and ambitious high school graduates to obtain degrees and skills to make important contributions to their communities and their country.
Applications will be rated based on (1) financial need, (2) academic achievement, and (3) commitment to giving back to your community. Priority will be given to prior recipients, women, and refugees.
Applicants with grade-point averages below 75% or the equivalent will generally not be competitive unless the reason for the lower grade-point average is an extenuating
circumstance explained in writing and submitted as part of the application.
The scholarship duration is one academic year. Scholarships are renewed if the student continues to meet academic achievement requirements.

Eligibility
To qualify for one of the scholarships, the student must be:
– Palestinian.
– Accepted or enrolled at a university in Gaza or the West Bank.
