The Daughters for Life Foundation’s Scholarship Program offers educational scholarships to girls and young women from the Middle East with strong academic ability, a background of socio-economic hardship, the proven ability to overcome hardship and the dream to make a difference.
Daughters for Life (DFL) offers its scholarships through specific academic partners. For 2021/2022, those partners are the University of Pennsylvania, in the United States, and Wilfrid Laurier University, in Canada, for undergraduate study. For graduate study, scholarships are available at Brock University, in Canada (Ph.D. only), and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where a number of scholars will be eligible to participate in a two-year master’s degree program related to gender-based violence in Jerusalem. The Hebrew University program is taught in English, with applicants also required to know Hebrew.
In addition to applying to Daughters for Life for the scholarship, all applicants must also apply to the respective academic partner for their desired university program(s) and win admission to be considered for the scholarship.
Applicants may apply to multiple universities and multiple programs within each university. Please note that there are application fees associated with each of the partner universities, as noted on their websites. Each academic partner has its own application system that our foundation is not privy to. Therefore, Daughters for Life is unable to waive these application fees.
Please find a list of our academic partners for 2021/2022, with important information and links for applying, at this link. It is important to be aware that these applications are separate from the DFL scholarship application. All questions regarding the universities’ and programs’ requirements, their application processes, etc., should be directed to the university or program itself.
Deadlines: January 15, 2021, for the DFL scholarship. Academic partners set their own application deadlines.
You can apply for the DFL Scholarship if you are:
– A citizen of one of the following countries: Palestine, Morocco, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon.
– In financial need.
– Committed to returning to your home country once studies are complete.
How to apply
In order to apply to the Daughters for Life Scholarship Program, you must complete two separate stages:
- Apply to the DFL Scholarship Program
Complete the DFL Scholarship Program Application, the Financial Needs Analysis form, the Supporting Documents form, and submit two references. Contact [email protected] for further assistance
- Apply to One or More of Our Academic Partners
Each university has its own set of admission requirements (including supporting documents), deadlines, and process for applying. In addition, each specific program will have its own requirements.
We encourage you to apply to more than one of our academic partners
Applications to the universities are NOT done through DFL.
IMPORTANT: Academic partners’ official application deadlines may differ from the above date depending on the university. However, in order to be considered for the DFL scholarship, you must have applied to your desired universities before January 15, 2022, and received an application number/ID. The sooner you submit your university applications, the better.
